We have all been there – picture the scene, you are on holiday in Africa or the Middle East and you come across a gorgeous carved statue or small wooden table and before you know it you have parted with your cash. It is only when you get back to the hotel that you realise how big it is compared to your suitcase and you face having to hire UK international removals to Switzerland just to get it back home.

Over the years I have had to buy extra suitcases to bring back carpets from Kuwait and Morocco, huge gilt mirrors from Pakistan and footstools from Dubai, and I cringe to think how much I have spent on excess baggage over this time.
